Nos. 529, 994-999 ex-Middleton Electric Traction Co. Ltd. (new 1902). They were
part of ten (Nos. 1-10) allocated to Manchester in 1925 when Middleton
Corporation (jointly with Rochdale and Oldham) purchased the system and leased
the working to Manchester. They were to have been numbered 994-1003, but three
were never operated. They were rebuilt by MCTD and entered service in 1925
(994), 1926 (995, 996), 1927 (997) and 1928 (529, 999).
No. 529 replaced the original 529, which was damaged in an accident in 1928. It
was in use as a sand car by 1937.
